C8720E6A-707F-4C49-B90F-5B5FEACBDF6B.jpeg Seller wants $245. For this painting they call “antique. “. IMHO it is not antique, but maybe frame is. Never have seen a signature in that garish color on an antique painting, plus no signs of age on the image. Sig looks like “L. Lower?” Comments?

Do you have a photograph of the back? The back of the painting/canvas and the frame will give better details to determine age.

I'm seeing happy trees, so I don't think it's worth a lot. Mill Cove is right - take it out of the frame.

Bev, he doesn't own it yet so they may not let him take it out of the frame, but a photograph of the back would still give much more information. Just my humble opinion, I think it's a bit above "happy trees" but definitely not an old master.

It could have some age but it could also be a reproduction frame. I can't tell without seeing the back. Some reproduction frames are very expensive but I don't think this is one of those.

If you can, get a close up of the back of the canvas as well as a full shot and a close up of the corners of the frame as well as a full shot of that too.

I'd back away slowly, unless you're planning on hanging it yourself. It looks like "art by the yard" from here.

Thanks, they closed up before I was able to get there. Open tomorrow at 10, I’ll be there. Got a few more trinkets today, some cork coasters with German 1970’s Artillery fuze advertising, some bottle openers with “Ordnance Division” stamping, some govt/contractor decals for various weapon development programs I’d never heard of, and some Stanley and Craftsman large steel carpenter squares, so now I have 3, one for each building. I go looking for one at least weekly, now I’ll always be able to find one. And a steel hook thingy with handle on one end, often used to horse pallets around in absence of a pallet jack. And 3 small pictures, 2 are signed.

It doesn't look like a factory painting to me, but it does look amateur... a bit clumsy in the color application.

I don’t think the painting is the work of a professional. Tonally it’s pretty much the same everywhere, amateurs make that mistake. If this was converted to black and white it would be mostly a dark grey smudge. Frame is nice though.

Thanks for all the input. I looked at my photos of it again and I just don’t like the painting enough to buy it, especially now that I’m pretty. sure it isn’t some undiscovered treasure.
