Matisse Blue Nude II print edition question

Hello Antiquers. I've seen quite a few different variations of this print over the years, but not this one. I'm hoping someone here knows more about it.
The size is 26" tall x 20" wide.
The signature reads only "H. Matisse" in blue.
And, there is an edition number, in pencil, that reads 40 of 375.

When I've seen this particular print before, the signature typically reads "H. Matisse 52" and is in black rather than blue. (example Photo #4, not my print)

The frame is very nice but otherwise unremarkable and there is no further information on the reverse.

It was unusual (to me), so I took a chance.

Any ideas?

Matisse, along with Picasso, Miró, and Chagall, is widely reproduced. I would view it with skepticism.

It's in a 1970s-80s frame, beautifully framed, it will sell.

 

Thank you very much. I was suspicious when the signature differed from the example in photo #4.
I hoped, against great odds, that this might be a hand signed limited edition print of the original cut paper work. Being that the artist passed two years after the completion of this work, that is unlikely.
