This is a covered jar. 3” diameter, 2-1/2” tall. What is it for? My first thought was ink well but the opening is only 1-1/4” diameter and a half inch deep. Thanks again! You guys help us so much!

Looks like a hair receiver to me.

    Ditto on the hair receiver.

Compartment is much smaller than any hair receiver I have seen but is just right for an inkwell; mouth is actually wider than on many.

If it is, it is a unique one. I had not heard of that term and looked it up and all of them look like this with an open hole at the top of the lid.

Rouge pot is another thought. Does look like an item for a vanity.

I like the worthpoint one better than mine. Love the violets :) inkwell is what I’d day. BUT will include hair receiver as well as antique and vintage and inkwell! LOL

    Thanks again!!

    Hi,
Have never seen a hair receiver with a lid. Have seen small ungent containers with lids.

The lid looks clunky & an odd color to go with it. Are you sure it isn't a 'marriage'?
