Necklace 925 Thailand - Is this abalone?

There is also a mark that I am not sure what it is but it is marked Thailand 925, wondering if this is abalone shell? thanks! Appreciate your comments~

 

It is mother of pearl. Many molluscs have shells with beautiful mother of pearl.
Abalone shell is mother of pearl from a specific species. It is usually very dark (the abalone seasnail itself is often black). There is a white abalone species, but this is not it.
