Hi all. Picked up these 3 cuties today, and Ive only been able to find one example from a seller on etsy who claimed they were from Taiwan and were allegedly never made for sale but as presentation pieces in the 70s. They had an 8 piece set,so cute ! Im a little leery of taking a sellers word for anything,so I thought Id get yalls input. the main one is 5 inches high,2nd one 4,3rd one 3. I first thought they were aquarium decorations!Any opinions always appreciated.

Johnnycb, they are adorable. I'm thinking they would be quite interesting/attractive in a model train set-up. ;)

I can't see them being presentation pieces. The quality isn't all that high, and I would expect presentation pieces to be models of actual buildings.

    (Haven't seen all the pictures.)

I thought maybe tealights or incense burners, but then wouldn't they look like houses on fire with smoke coming out the windows?

I think aquarium ornaments have to be Ph neutral, so they don't poison the water. And I think aquarium ornaments are usually accessible by the fish? Don't know if these would qualify.

    Maybe just ornaments.

Cricket houses? (I guess they're not escape proof.)

They are gorgeous johnny, so cute. I would have bought them.
No replicas or presentation pieces, just models of traditional houses which many cultures enjoy, I think. Like my Batak house, from Sumatra, Indonesia, which I posted in another thread:

The Dutch have to put booze in theirs, of course:

I'm leaning towards aquarium ornaments as well. I think the doors and windows would be treated differently if made for shelf display.
