    At least you were politically correct enough to not describe the profession of said unmentionable personage as a faggot gatherer, even though that is what a bundle of sticks like that was known as :blackeye:

    I can't assist with the signature, but the rest of the conversation got me to wondering. Because I'm a "just the facts" kinda person I checked Google's dictionary for the definition of "crone" -- first thing that pops up is, "an old woman who is thin and ugly". A bit further down is the question, "What is the male equivalent of a crone?" Response: a wizard, with the comment, ". . . infinitely less offensive". Sadly, right below that is a link to a 2018 article in The Telegraph titled, "Hag, harridan, crone: 16 words we only use to describe older women". If nothing else, the above may help some folks understand why the word "crone" touches a nerve.
