Glass dish - silver overlay

Grabbed this today for a couple bucks - it's been in this particular thrift for a couple weeks - finally gave it a good looking at today and decided to bring it home. It's about 6" across. Has a cool geometric form/design. The glass seems older to me - The base has some definite wear and seems highly polished. Hard to get pics of the bottom. Any ideas where from?

Looks like a vintage ash tray to me. No idea who. I like the design.

 

The pattern reminds me very much of Fostoria Alexis.

I thought maybe berry bowl or ice cream dish but those items seem to have different shapes. Alexis was a big line so it still may be Fostoria. One of our EAPG friends may know more.
