    Good day,

We recently had a family member pass and we're sorting out their items. We came across a vase that I am sure is most likely quite modern, but my husband insists on making sure we're not getting rid of anything with value. I've looked online, but haven't been able to find an exact match. Could you guys please help me out?

    Kind regards,

    Johanna

hi Johanna, Sorry to hear about Your loss...

Not sure about the vase, but your cup & saucer looks like a nice example of Art Deco?

Your vase is Chinese and late 20thc at the earliest. Did you have other pieces in that pattern? I say that because that lid is from another piece, that shape of vase would not ordinarily have a lid.

I am no expert. Looking closely what I see though is disturbingly poor painting over the transfers. This to me speaks of a newer factory production piece.

Thank you for the kind words.

She also left us a couple sets of ''Handausgemalt'' Bavaria Waldershof tea cups and saucers, that's one of them.

There are two in the set which basically are the same. And now you mention it, it does seem like the lid isn't part of it. It has an odd fit. I took a closer look and the paint job does leave a lot to be desired, which does mean it could be rather poor quality. Here is a better picture of the two vases and the signature underneath, but I feel like with what you said could be true. I do know that it was already in her possession in the 90s or even late 80s, but it most likely doesn't hold much value.

It's a Qianlong Nian Zhi mark; see on gotheborg.com by clicking Chinese marks on the left menu and scrolling waaay down.

The mark is basically part of the decoration and means very little.
