c1.jpg I have this beautiful vase decorated with thistles (?) with a wooden lid. There is no mark, but I feel like someone might recognize it and know its maker. It's about 6 1/2 inches tall with the lid.

The foliage painted on the jar is not thistle. Can't say what it IS, just what it is NOT.

Interesting top. I wonder if the original was broken and someone made it.

It's neither dandelion or thistle, but the botany brain isn't working. It's one of those creeping herb like natives.

    Back in a bit. Thinking.

Resembles vetch or wild peas though not sure it's either. Are there other plant examples on it?

It does look like a legume.

Leaves are wrong and no tendrils, though.

When I first got this vase the bottom of the wooden lid had a sticker from Sotheby's Park-Burnett — a sticker with a lot number on it. Stupidly, I removed the sticker and can't find it now. So I lost the clue I needed to track down more information about this piece.
