Pottery Piece Decorated On The Inside

No idea who, when and where made this but wonder what’s the point to decorate it on the interior only.

 

It is a statement: 'hidden beauty'.

 

I don’t know, I find it a weird piece. Not only the decoration is on the inside but the design is strange. You can see it on two of the panels but on the rest is very subtle.

 

It is an intriguing piece, and it looks like it has some age.

 

I’m debating between having some age and being a studio or student work.

 

I think some age.

 

For a minute I thought it could be with Asian origin but I don’t think the motif is common for that area.

 

No, it isn't Asian. It looks European to me, maybe French?

 

Hi K, Just love the object. The green is so "organic". What size is it? The flowers are so simple and I feel the pattern is a bit art deco. Reminds me of some of the designs on plates and tea sets of that period. Interesting the pattern is inside, so I can not see this being used as a vase. I'd use it to hold pencils or bits on the desk. Could it have been used to serve things? But what I'm not sure. Someone will have a better idea than me.
