    Apologies for photos, not mine.

My neighbour thinks this is an original Art Nouveau lamp and wants me to buy it.
    She thinks its worth hundreds.
I don`t want to buy it as I know little about them and I can get them for free in clearances when they turn up.

It looks like gilded spelter, it has modern wiring and could have been rewired.

I see the glass torch shades fetch around £40 on the net.

    Whatcha think.

Hum... even if old, spelter isn't worth thousands:p

All I'm seeing is that seriously ugly bowl the glass sits in. Can't imagine Art Nouveau being done that roughly. :artist:

Your neighbor wants you to buy it -- for your own resale?

Would depend on the asking price.

A little hard to see detail from the photo. It looks kind of rough like spelter sometimes does, but is that a snake winding up her body? That design that might add some value.

I agree, looks rough, not the best example of the art nouveau lady lamps.
With the fabulous stuff you find in house clearances, you'll probably find one by Frankart:)

The shade looks like it may have been made in
    Czechoslovakia.

Difficult to tell from the photos, but the actual figure looks to be better quality and possibly different composition material as base and torch holder. You may find that figure as a stand alone statute of some kind.
Again, hard to tell from pics and possible different wear patterns.

The shade is the best part. The lamp itself looks old but not highest quality. The fitter really looks wrong. It looks more like a bowl that an oil lamp font would fit in to.

I don't think the shade went with that lamp originally, and neither one really floats my boat.

I think I`ll tell her to sell the shade separately, she may get more for it than the lamp.
