Dagger Maybe ?

This was given to me by my grandfather. I think he said it was an African Dagger he got in WWII. Could anyone help Identify what it is. It is 10" long and the blade is dull. There are no markings anywhere that I can see.

I've seen newer ones with that style but I know nothing about old ones. @komokwa may be able to shed some light....

 

Thanks For the reply. I'm thinking now it might be a letter opener. the blade is not sharp on either side. Sometimes the old stories are better left unchallenged.
