For a while I was looking for a project to restore a small piece of furniture. Found this chair at yard sale for $7.50. It’s heavy, good bones. Any idea how old this chair may be or it’s maker info? I have restored a few easy projects in past, so I thought let’s do it again. Thanks 020E75FD-51D9-499D-B034-F7626357CFD9.jpeg

I can’t help with the origin or date, but looking forward to the restored pictures. :)

All I know is it's been around for a few. Probably a kitchen chair. I'd say have at it!

Thanks guys. I started this afternoon, it’s super workable. Interesting thing is that there are no nails or screws. It’s joint by little wood inserts. I needs to buy some sponge and nice fabric, but first I need to watch some YouTube video to educate myself as I never did tapestry, I think that is the term. Will keep you posted. :watching:

Made progress, stripped of the outer layer, washed it and put one coat of the paint that I found in garage. For missing seat I’m using this tile trivet as temporary solution. Not bad E37C0E42-9AE5-46F9-99E3-242782746CDC.jpeg 1C70B12C-FC72-4195-8763-96B37699C021.jpeg

It looks like a little Mexican import and not necessarily old. Tile seat suits it.

They're typically made of pine or mesquite. Yours looks like pine (but I could be wrong as not my area of knowledge.) The style is called "Rústico" or Rustic. It could also be called Spanish Colonial.

Thanks very much. Not sure what kind of wood it is, but I can tell very heavy.
