Featured Chinese fireworks container (empty)

Posted this under "Finds" as well. Garage sale purchase. Just curious, what do you think the age is? 1950's? Earlier?

The sides are super thick -- I suppose if the fireworks went off during transport maybe the thick sides were to hold them in or something. I've never seen similar, but loved the graphics. Found one under Ebay sold but they gave no indication of age other than "vintage".

Sparklers could catch fire & get extremely hot, but not explode in any major way. (Although not sure what would happen with a packed can-ful.) They're easily bent, so sturdiness of can may have had more to do with protecting contents from the outside rather than vice versa.

CHINA fireworks......Made in INDIA.......that's a hoot !!!!
That barrel is really thick for packaging & must have been meant to hold many items.
Funny though...snakes & sparklers ...are two very different fireworks....

 

Looks like the lady at the top is wearing a saree, so the seller could be right. She even has rows of thin bangles on each arm, very Indian.

 

I know, Chinese fireworks, made in India. So confusing!

The canister is sturdy. 8" high and almost weights 2lbs.

I love the graphics too. 30's? I've never heard of "electric" sparklers. Anyone have thoughts on why that word is included?

I think the reference was about the seller who had the same item in the linked auction in my initial post.

Glad that folks like this. I think the graphics are so over the top vintage looking! Tempted to keep it, but don't really have a good spot.

I have no idea what "electric" sparklers meant, either. Maybe it was a bit of false advertising, like they "look electrified" or something?
