Bought this relatively cheap from a local auction. They called it a Boer War Officers Razor. What do you guys think. It’s quite beaten up and the horn sheath is bowed but I think it could clean up well.

So it’s a Taylor’s Witness Hollow Ground Razor but my question is ‘is it actually militaria?’

Thanks for any help ;):pompous: I’m sure ou military nuts will come through with some encyclopaedic knowledge

I don`t think the military had a standard pattern of razor used by the whole army.
They used many manufacturers and most troops and officers used their own.

I think it might have been described as such because it was the Boer War period.

Google "Boer War Cut Throat or Open Razors"
There are many shown and listed.

I sold two Eye Witness blades a couple of weeks ago.

I like @komokwa ’s idea!!! Mostly because it might get me my money back :joyful:.

Honestly though that could be a good call the brass ‘crown’ and ‘2’ look like they were put in post production.

Is this crown a common contemporary military motif (throwing you a tongue-twister). Also I can’t find record of a Taylor’s number two razor.

I think the crown and number do not apply to the razor. They look quite out of place. If you know more though feel free to shoot down my reckonings xD haha
