This Mug Set is Giving me a Headache

I was going to just post this set of fun mugs I grabbed yesterday in the Finds thread as google had told me all I wanted to know, however this morning I have more questions than I'm willing to live with.

They're signed Toledo, so I looked it up and came back with the name Pablo Sanguino, who made a very similar mug and pitcher set back in the 70s/80s. However that's about all I could find. He's got several vases to his name, as well as plates, paintings, and the before mentioned set. There's a few things throwing me off though. One, unless there isnt a mark at all, 90% of his pieces are signed Sanguino Toledo or S. Toledo, mine just say Toledo. The handwriting looks the same but these signatures are plainer than his other examples. Secondly there's a few cups and plates that are almost identical to mine in style, but the mugs I've only seen with bulls on them, not any roosters like are on a couple of his plates. The style while similar, is more cave painting-esque than these. And fourth, I cannot find an exact match to any of these mugs at all. They just don't exist. Any sort of search past 'Sanguino pottery' turns up the no matching results error on google.

There was a short biography of Sanguino I found, he was born 1949, his family set up their pottery factory in Toledo in 1956, and he taught at two universities 1973-198something. Could these be some sort of student work if not his?

They're very fun all the same, and I'm quite pleased with the purchase although they're a little scraped up.

Does anyone have any idea about them or him? TIA for your help! I'm a bit stuck.

Those are very similar thank you! Is it a regional style then rather than one specific artist perhaps? 50s is a little early for Sanguino.

I'd think they were souvenirs from Toledo in the style of Pablo Sanguino. But I could be wrong.

You know... The artist does have a web site with contact information. One could always ask.

Quite right I could do so! Probably will honestly, these do strike my fancy, even if they are tourist items! The glaze is all but gone on the insides so I might go ahead and put some succulents in them, they'll be very cute in my room. Thanks for all the help everyone!
