The use of the registration diamond threw me. Haven't seen that imitated before. But then I don't know if I've seen a registration diamond on a figurine either.

I've seen fake diamonds before, but they usually are just a raised or impressed shape, without the number and letter details.

Now that you mention it, I have seen the blank shape before, but this seems to be a representation correct in the details, easily mistaken for the real deal. But it doesn't say "England" anywhere, so the maker could argue that it's just a decorative motif and doesn't imply anything about the manufacture, with which I do not agree.

Can we see a few photos of the actual figurine itself? I am dying to see it, and have the sneaking suspicion that the figure will have a slightly asian look to the face. Possibly in the profile.

Hi everyone, sorry it took a while, but there are the figures. You can see why I thought they were antique, they just look it, even down to the ancient restoration and overpaint on one of the arms (I have the hand!). If they are repro, they are good.

Oh, and they measure a little over 14 inches tall

They do look reasonably antique. Maybe they are copies of existing figures, or taken from fashion plates of the day. They have a Kate Greenaway quality - circa 1880, which makes the date on that registration diamond appropriate.

I associate the type with late 19th, early 20th C but generally those are colored bisque, and (it seems to me) German. Figurines of the type were also made in Japan post WWII.

The registration diamond is both convincing and deceiving. Certainly something to be aware of.
