Any information on this ashtray would be great

    My wife bought me this ashtray today. Don't know where to begin. Any info of time period etc. would be very helpful. Looked up company name but came up with nothing? Thank you.

    Hi, Keith, and welcome!

    I didn't find much, but I saw that NICHOLS PLASTIC AND ENGINEERING CO was a manufacturing firm in Los Angeles, CA, incorporated in 1945, and no longer in business.

    My guess is that your ashtray is very likely mid-20th century, probably ca. late 1940's to 1950's.

    Such items are, of course, rather controversial today.

    The plastic looks much like bakelite, kind of late production for bakelite in 1945?
