Metal tops with relief tiles of fireplace mantels

    sorry I have no idea of what these are called. They came off of two different fireplace mantels in a church. The black ones were on one end of one and the white one in the middle of one. Is there a name for these? Also any way to figure who made the unmarked tiles? I am right in assuming around 1900 for the date?

    Nice! Even nicer if they turn out to be by Low.

    Others here may recognize the back and be able to offer other possibilities or even a positive ID.

    If I saw those tiles here, I'd say earlier: mid 19th C. They show Renaissance heads. Cast iron. I suppose pediment isn't a bad word.

    Interesting that they came from a church, they don't look religious.

    I think she looks like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. BWDIK?

    There’s something written on the Back of the one you show upside down. Can you remove the bar without damaging and take another picture. The one on bottom left is different from the other 2.

    I've seen similar tiles in situ in London at the Liberal Club and elsewhere. Those were Doulton Lambeth, I think.
