    Agreed.
    I totally see now. I think in all my years of selling and dealing with jewelry I’ve only handled actual saphiret once.

    There are ‘saphiret’ loose gems being sold on Etsy at fairly low cost. I swear I’m seeing the same or similar being put into older pieces of jewellery and being sold for a lot of money on eBay.

    that's one of the things I'd never buy on internet. although Whiting & Davis is certainly a reference for the era I'd have a hands-on inspection by a trusted expert.
    for me the danger of it being post-war Neugablonz is always too high.

    Only posted the Whiting & Davis parure to show the maker, thought it had already been established that it's circa 1950s and sappharine rather than sapphiret...
