What does the inside surface look like? It is not engraved, but chased or acid etched.

A gorgeous cup, and yes all handmade. It is classic Kashmiri (Northwestern India), Indo-Persian style.
It is not engraved but hammered, a long process. I'm sure there is a better term for it.

Amazing.:jawdrop: And it is antique, I would guess late 19th century, maybe earlier.

this one is more to the Persian side of things, they used those small flowers patterns.
are you thinking of the mughal style ? there the patterns are either finer or more abstract.
to make sure it is silver and has not only the much more common silver-wash: scratch the surface somewhere invisible (botton) and see what color is showing up.

I think it is copper, they made a lot of copper items in Kashmir, still do.
Indo-Persian is also called Mughal, but I'd rather call it Mughal if there is more of a definite Mughal style. This is traditional Kasmiri, which has a lot of Persian influence, hence Indo-Persian, or simply Kashmiri. Collectors know what Kashmiri entails, and it is one of their search terms.
I collect all three, Mughal style, Indo-Persian and Kasmiri, but good stuff is hard to find for the price I am willing to pay. I am Dutch, need I say more...:hilarious:

"I am Dutch, need I say more..." nono, those 20 p were probably already too much for a true Calvinist...

I am not a Calvinist, so those 20p would do for me. I would even pay more.:jawdrop:
Having said that, we have a saying that in the Netherlands even the Catholics are Calvinist.:D

By the way, don't polish it too much. Give it a soak in soapy water to remove the verdigris, maybe use a cotton bud or even a toothpick to remove any remaining verdigris. Then just buff it a little, you can use an old t-shirt for that, nothing fancy. It should be clean, but not look like it was made yesterday.
