    Looks meant to be put on a grave. 'GAR grave marker' finds similar.

    Dates are founding of GAR in 1881 and founding of National Daughters in 1885?

    GAR founded 1866. Maybe dates of membership of the person whose grave the marker was taken from?

    Apologies. I was reading an "8" for the "6" in both those dates. Now they make sense!

    Civil War marker. My husband's g-g-g-grandfather had one on his grave. We took all the grave markers for organizations (this, Masons, Odd Fellows) home because there was a rash of thefts. Maybe this was sold by a descendant and maybe it was stolen. Right now they're in my attic.
