Rosenthal Monbijou cabinet plate

Hi all.
I bought this Rosenthal plate the other day and was hoping first to ID the flowers.
The back stamp dates it from 1891 to 1906 if i'm correct.
it is 8 3/4" and in excellent condition too.

I think peonies, but wait for other opinions.

 

With those stems and leaves, my best guess is English Cabbage Roses. Or just big ole Roses. The buds look like roses to me also.

 

I agree - sometimes called "Damask Roses."

 

I never saw those before. Just googled them. They’re very pretty, and looks closer than peonies.

 

So roses it is. I couldn't resist buying it. the hand painting is just awesome and the plate has not one chip or scratch i can find. and a 100 year old Rosenthal for $3.00 seemed like a steal
