I got one I need help on. Does anyone know this mark.

I have several pieces of china and dinnerware, etc. Most of it I have been able to easily identify. It all came from my grandmother who spent time in Germany during ww2. This plate was in her collection and I am sure she brought it back from Germany. It has the GDR stamp on the bottom but I haven't been able to identify the mark. It is a small plate maybe 7 or 8 inches in diameter. I also have no idea what it says. Here are some pictures. I would really love any help on this. I have been searching for information on this plate since I got it several months ago.

 

Perhaps you mistyped "during WW2" and meant after? The GDR (East Germany) wasn't established until 1949.

Sorry I was trying to post from my phone and it wasn't going well for me. Anyways, I am not sure the actual dates that she was over there. My grandfather was in the Army and he was in the war. At some point she was allowed to go over there but she didn't get to stay long before she was sent back with several other newly pregnant wife's. It may have been shortly after the war. I know when she came back my grandfather still had to stay for a period of time. She told me how the cities were all destroyed. The other pieces she brought back were stamped US Zone. Maybe she picked this up at a garage sale or something later on? Anything is possible. It was the one piece that seemed a lot different from the others. I did do some research on the GDR but I have never been able to find that mark anywhere. Thank you all so much for the replies and information. Anything helps.

The translation of that page is pretty interesting. That bridge has quite the history. Oh My!

 

Just looking at the style of design on the edge of the plate, and the brown and white color choice. I would say 1970s. So if she wasn't there at that time, I would guess, a gift or something she picked up.

Looking closer at the mark, is it stamped over the glaze?
That might be a decorators mark and not a porcelain factory mark.

 

agree with clutter. typical souvenir stuff. if it was for something useful it would not be marked GDR instead of DDR.

I think the mark is VEB Steingutwerk Torgau.

Shown mark is that of the VEB Steingutfabrik Torgau (a state-owned combine) from the town of Torgau in the region of Saxony. It was used between 1967 and 1989.
