Help With Mark On Silverplated Candlestick

Looks like a partial strike of the center "crown" of the Lawrence B. Smith mark. See close to the bottom of the right hand column in this link.

I suppose it could be, Maryisgal. Unfortunately I've only been able to find one Crown Silver Plate Co with a pictorial mark (the one Rainwater lists as a Canadian company) and can't find an online reference for them yet. The picture of their "crown mark" in Rainwater has a lot more to it that what's on the OP's piece, as well.

 

I know it isn't gold, but this shape crown looks similar to the British hallmark for Gold.

Finally found a picture of the mark of Crown Silver Plate Co of Toronto, Canada. Not a great picture, but you can get the idea.

So, most likely is neither Lawrence nor Crown silver.
Anything about the pattern and possible age? The bottom, maybe the stem as well, is filled with cement.

Yes. It is a skin, silver over copper.

 

Okay. It was just hard for me to tell whether the bottom was the exposed cement or not. It was probably covered with felt in that case, since I don't see any obvious signs of a previous silverplate bottom having been pried off.

I *think* that would mean it was made in the 20th C. Frankly, if the mark is that obscure, I doubt it matters who it was. AF's famous "blokes in a shed."

 

Is it possible the silver to have been fused? And how can you tell?

It might be fused however I would expect that on an older piece. Yours could be any metal that was dipped in copper and then silver electroplated.
I also think newer since the detail work does look rather crude.
