Featured Can this wood be Identified

Want to sell this spectacular beautiful piece of driftwood(in my mind) and hoping some of you “wood” tell me what type of wood it might be. Nothing currently like it on ebay. Does anyone know if there is a market for this? 20” L X 9” H(image2)

In what area was it found? Because it looks a lot like Manzanita. But if that, it's not likely to be driftwood - just dead root burl from wherever it grew. Example: https://www.etsy.com/listing/126625...how_sold_out_detail=1&ref=nla_listing_details

 

Looks like a polished root wood burl to me.

 

I think its beautiful too.

 

Etsy seems to have a bunch from Arizona, and depending how much extra carving, depends on the price.....

Thank you @smallaxe. Gave me a lot to search on. Weird that most still call it Manzanita driftwood in listings. Guessing they can’t get pass it being a root . In either case this little root is more then “just dead root burl”....it art . Well at least to us city folk.

I appreciate all of your inputs. Going to throw it up on ebay hoping some urbanite wants it.

 

I shouldn't have said "just". Manzanita wood is beautiful. I grew up in the area it grows, and saw it often when hiking, and have always loved it.

You are quire right, a 'root burl' isn't a derogatory term at all, they are art pieces and popular in China, here's a fun link too:
