These were everywhere in the 60s and 70s and sold to be collected. They sell for pretty, but not for money at least around here. The one I like is the Royal Chelsea cup. Lefton, btw, is Japanese too.

evelyb, thanks! it is as I thought, but for a buck each I couldn't pass them up  I will sell in a couple lots and sell the Chelsea on its own. The Royal Chelsea is my favorite as well and will probably bring in $25 The Lefton is marked and says Japan.

People like those black cups, but my experience says $15 or so is the best you can expect.

The blue and white above it looks interesting, but I doubt $25 interesting. Can't really see the pattern. Goes it have a lithophane?

For $1 each, I think they're good buys. Cups and saucers around here rarely go for less than $5 even at garage sales.

more, The occupied Japan cobalt and blue does not have a lithophane, it is eggshell but as you said $15 range as well. I think the only one I will list separately is the Royal Chelsea.

Last year, on Craigs List, I sold a huge lot of cups and saucers, some mismatched, to a woman who used them for a tea party bridal shower. She made place cards that stated the cups and saucers were gifts to take home. I sold them for more than I would have received on ebay and she thought it was a great deal without having to pay for shipping.

Aside from the Royal Chelsea (which is nice, although I consider it a middle-range British manufacturer), you'd be hard-pressed to sell them for $5 ea. at a garage sale here. Victoria is the tea-and-crumpet capital of Canada and there are tons of tea cups around -- I should know, I own a good quantity of them myself! ;)

    Hi Mill Cove,
Reminds me of years ago I had a friend whose daughter was getting married and wanted Manhattan depression glass for table settings. Finding thirty-five sets of the candle holders was fun. Selling them later took for ever. I should have thought to give them away as a table prize.:D The other pieces of Manhattan flew out the door. If they were round instead of square it might have been a different story.
