    It's an African basket, not Native American, a traditional type of bundle-coiled basket made from palm fiber.

    This type of basketry is made primarily in two areas of southern Africa. by the Bayei and Hambukushu tribes in northwestern Botswana, and by the Zulu in South Africa. The start in the bottom of this basket is found more often on Zulu baskets.
