Willett Dresser with Arched Mirrors

Good Morning Everyone,

Hoping someone could help me with this dresser. My family has owned it for about 20 years but the original owners had it for a lot longer than that before they passed away. Was wondering if anyone recognized the name and potential value if any?

Any help would be appreciated.

 

Welcome, MRYCBR. I had not heard of this manufacturer until you asked. But a quick Google search revealed this article about the company and the desirability of their products. You should note, however, that the article is 10 years old, so the opinions may not reflect current conditions in the used furniture market.

Willett is quality furniture with a distinct following. That said, some markets are better than others. Here in central IL, it does not bring a premium over other similar furniture.

 

Welcome MRYCBR. Your question is whether it is worth shipping. Without really knowing, would have to guess that is an expensive proposition. What would be your intent once it was in Indiana? Only you can put a price on what it would mean to you to add it to your own home furnishings, if you like it, have space for it & it has sentimental value for you. (And can afford it without strain.) If you would just then be looking to sell it, can't imagine it would be worth it.

 

From an economic standpoint, no but, sometimes economics does not win the day, for instance someone in your family who previously owned it & you want to keep it in the family.
As a collector of furniture shipping is ALWAYS an issue because no matter if buying from a dealer or auction the buyer is responsible for shipping. The past 10 years or so the best most economical way to ship is, uship.com. Mostly small carriers that bid for the shipment & handle blankets, pallets and ship it door to door.
