Help with a Signature

Good morning. I have this little Adobe painting. Any thoughts, and help with the signature would be greatly appreciated. I have it listed and didn't think much of it, but there are a bunch of watchers. Just need to know if there's something special about it.

Almost forgot. It's 7" x 9" wide and I found it in Texas.

I would see what’s behind the brown paper backing, looks like the letter C which could be the artists initial as I think it’s a C on the front too and it might be clearer. You can always replace the paper.
I thought I could see C Mcniffe on the front but it’s just a guess.

Thanks for the replies. I opened the back. It's a name, just not the artist's name. Lol. The same is scratched into the other side. John Cook.
