Help with ring stone?

Hello all! This ring was amongst a small lot, it's gold plated on 925. I have a cheapy diamond tester (which is honestly a bit garbage I think) but it is beeping on the stone which is supposed to indicate that it's something other than glass, what do you think? Again-jewelry novice trying to learn. Many thanks

 

Sound like you need to have them tested, there is no way to tell from a photo.

 

Thanks, I was just curious to know what it could be based on colour I will have them tested.

Thank you! I showed it to a jeweller and she's pretty confident that they're rubies, so pretty pleased with that.

 

Lab-grown rubies are not an expensive stone, so not strange to find them in a ring of this quality.
