    Hi-

I've had this small watercolor (about 6 x 12 inches) for years. I can't decipher the artist's name. The picture is of a small boat n the water, but on the reverse is a partial watercolor of a Halloween (?) scene. It seems to me to possibly be "Moyes or Mayes, with the letter "V" on top of the M. moyes1.jpg moyes1.jpg moyes2.jpg moyes3.jpg moyes4.jpg moyes5.jpg

I looked in the biographical dictionary of Kansas artists, artists active before 1945. I did not see a Hayes or a Mayes.

This probably won't help especially since I don't have a good photo edit program. I did a little overlay of letters to see if all the lines could be used. I also an curious about the handwritten note on the back which seems to say Mayes, Mayer, Meyes, Meyer?

From the biographical dictionary of Kansas Artists:

Noyes, Bernice. fl. 1930s, Osborne. Artist. Exhibitions: Kansas Free Fair, 1939.

    Topeka Journal (Sept. 9, 1939).
