I am hoping someone has seen the backstamp on this Chocolate Pot set that came from my Mother's estate. Unfortunately, I have no information on it - where it came from, when she bought it.

Height of pot is about 9 ½”.

I’ve looked online at the resources posted by DaveyDempsey. I seem to have reached a dead end.

What's curious is the pitcher is just marked "France"; the cups have no markings and the saucers - well one or 2 you can somewhat make out a stamp that

    1. Has a banner that says “Oliver” or “River”, can’t make out the 2nd word.

    2. A snake body with lion head and snake tongue with a small crown on top – sitting in a crown.

The pot has 3 gold initials on the left side of the handle and the left side of the spout.

Any information is a great help. Thank you!

Here is info on the Oliver China mark from Debolt's book. I don't know anything about them though.

Thank you SIS for identifying the set. What would be the reason for only the pitcher to have FRANCE stamped on the bottom?

You guys are so knowledgeable and quick!

    Sorry for the late reply!

    Hi,
It might been bought being a blank white and decorated by a hobbyist painter. There were many really talented painter back then.

Makes sense. Perhaps Oliver China Co. bought the blank and their painters matched the cup and saucers.
