It's greenish glass and big - 10" high, more than 5" across, holds well over 2 quarts.
On the front it reads "The Imperial" around a monogram: C E Co, or E C Co. The monogram could be maker, could be retailer. Anyone know?

    No mark on the bottom.

Thanks! Quite pleased by that. I've already done some rewriting and will have to take a couple more pics. From the description on that site, I think this is a Mold 2 jar, probably after the first rework. The length of the word THE, from the top outer corner of the T to the top outer corner of the E, is 3 1/8”. The length of the word IMPERIAL, from the bottom outside corner of the I to the right outside corner of the leg on the L, is 6 1/4”. I’m guessing this to be after the first rework because there is a center circle in the O (very faint), which apparently was not present with the first initial run, and there was re-engraving at the first rework. By my measure, the line of the heel is less than 1/2” ( more like 3/8”) up the side of the jar.

    Talk about minutiae!

(I did consider that that letter might be a G, but obviously was not convinced and didn't search.)

Kronos is spot on. The"Red Book No. 10 Says the half gallon is worth about$6 to $8 in the light green color. Olive green is worth considerably more. My history of selling this paticular jar tells me the book under-values things by at least half. Very nice specimen of a jar. The lid makes it even more valuable. That lid is relatively hard to find.

@Iowa Jayhawk : when you mention the lid, are you referring to that metal closure? Because I can't tell one from another. The third picture is the bottom of the jar.

This is the lid, which is interesting enough to me with its lines and bubbles:

Different jar makers sometimes had slightly different size openings so the metal lids were different sizes. I believe this one is not the same size as the standard Ball jar or Atlas jar.

    It is a snug fit.

Got it. The top has a glass lid with a metal ring holding it in place, right? Those are definitely harder to find in my experience. We mainly have Atlas and Ball jars with a few other unique things thrown in. We sell jars right and left.

I think that's the norm around here. Most of the jars I see are Crown from Dominion Glass and they all have that kind of closure. Maybe it's a Canadian thing.

These are 1 quart Crown jars in aqua blue. I like the color though it doesn't show in this photo. They have the same kind of closure. (They're bottles I picked up along the way and I saved to hold a collection of mostly clay marbles that probably date to the first decade of the 1900s and belonged to an uncle as a kid.)

I used to have a lot of these jars, but I wasn't doing anything with them, so I took them to work and gave them to a woman who did home canning and I knew liked that kind of jar. Work ended and several years later I ran into the same woman who spoke with sneering contempt of the idiot who gave her a box full of valuable bottles without having a clue as to their worth. And here I thought I was just being nice.

The only other jar I have at the moment is this Doolittle 2 quart, which I think has a closure unique to that company. Not particularly rare I believe, but the only one I've found in these parts.
