The eagle screw has a split/lock washer on the inside. Seems more for a spacer than to actually lock it down. The eagle is not coated and feels/looks to be a different material.

I did a scratch test and I don't see brass underneath.

I was just pointing out that there are similar shapes and styles of lights for nautical use, not the material.

I see things like this: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/red-blue-boat-light-491656905 and other boat pieces made of aluminum, with a coating and chipping/pitting. Not everything is brass and high quality, even from well known companies.

As mentioned early in this thread Ailmite was known for products related to lubrication, which included bulk grease and oil pumps. Your lamp looks suspiciously like the pump casings on what is known as a “lubester” in the trade. Some had visible casings.

If dimensions of thing were mentioned I missed them, pls repeat, I never got good marks in skool for “reading comprehension.” Looking at thing in relation to the cord, kinda looks small for a lubester glass. Plus, wonder if lubesters often had red glass? Otherwise lubester makes sense given Alemite source.

Well, first, you wouldn't be able to see into it without light. It is very dark red. Second, the thickness does not seem to correspond to other visible sight glass. Third, it's small. I'll get measurements in a bit.

I also don't see any signs of how it would connect to other parts correctly if it was for such a purpose. No threading on either end, no area for gaskets/seals.

I've not seen any Alemite lubester or related products with sight glass like this. I did search for quiet a while to see if it was a related part off something else they made.

The lubesters seem to all have another pipe coming off top also. What is interesting though is it does look similar to early visible gas pump tops.
