Cushman humidor

I've been trying to find an approximate date for this Cushman humidor, and I can't. Also, wondering how I should refinish or not. Can anybody help?

Guessing ca. 1950 on the humidor.

What I want to know is, what's up with that piece to the right? Can you fill us in on that, @Diane Bean ?

 

If it has a metal tag with a number or a number impressed into the wood on it's under side I can provide date info. The piece looks darker then the usually seen russet finish on 1930's - 50's Cushman.

 

Well, I'm not so sure about this either. I bought the pile of metal for $25, and my hubby scraped the rust off it all and repainted it and made a top for it. I just love cast iron stuff, at least that what I think it is. My hubby says that "piece is heavier than an sob!" We probably ruined it, hopefully not.

 

No metal tag, just a paper one, but you can't see the # very clearly. Maybe 697. I only paid ten, just don't know if I should leave it alone or try to redo. Didn't Cushman have their own coloring?
