Antique or Vintage black velevet choker necklace?

Hello again,
I wonder if the attached choker necklace brings any bells. It was part of a lot, and described as antique.
Does the pendant have any particular patten for an specific era?
What is the material used in the pendant? Is this a collectable pice? I have searched the internet, could not find anything similar.
Finnaly, it smells a bit and am thinking to wash it, but knowing that velvet and water does not mix, would you advise to wash it?

No, best not to wash. There are other ways to remove a musty smell.

Lord, that shouts seventies.

Get some Fuller's Earth cat litter and leave the velvet bits in it for a few days, that'll do it.

 

I wore a black velvet band in the early 70s. It had a pendant, can't remember what it was. Not petit point, although I am sure my grandmother would have loved that.
