See what I did there?

Anyhow, earrings. Got these yesterday. I think the gold pair have new earwires and I also think they're Edwardian. Black enamel on a nice rose gold - possibly rolled - base. I shall put clips on them.

The silver ones are also interesting and I think earlier in the history of clips.

I need to upload one more photo, for some reason the board thinks it's too big.

Opinions.....?

The silver ones are fabulous!. Really interesting design that makes it look like the wire is threaded through. With all the glue and gunk cleared away and new pearls they will be spiffy

Those silvery clips' pearls have been de-pearled. They need a little help. And scratch testing - the look like silver. The others look like they've had their wires replaced at least once already. The design isn't anything I've seen before.

 

I'm tempted to replace them with something other than pearls, depending on how well they clean up properly. Enamel dots even. No hallmarks, but they smell silver.

I do think the others are old, as in nineteenth century. A puzzle....

 

I think historically inspired, rather than old. The Germans made similar jewellery in the 1970s. Neugablonz and other towns. Often really nice.
The hooks are also ca 1970s-now.

 

I think the hooks have been replaced, aj. They're a different colour for a start.

 

Yes, they could be replacements. The pendants are not 19th century though.

 

What makes you think 70s, aj, please?

 

The sturdy, slightly chunky look, the artisan back, the hint of archaeological revival, but not as refined and delicate as 19th century Revival pieces.
Plus it is cast rather than hammered, not something you see in this style 19th century jewellery.
I saw similar pieces from Germany in the first half of the 70s. I like the style, but it isn't 19th century imo.
