I found a few bits today, but yesterday ... whoops! My usual hospital charity thrift had their fall opening day on Wednesday and $90+ later I finally got out of there. But, top of the pops was a 1.5 pint (about 750ml or close enough) silver and glass "pocket flask" that was more likely for a picnic set or something for someone with far too much money. It has Gorham marks and had an $8 price tag(!) Not shown DSCF9941bitty.jpg DSCF9942.JPG DSCF9940.JPG are some scrap gold bits and two 80s Lanvin necklaces. The image was so blurry I dumped it. I wouldn't have bought the Mona Lisa piece, but her backing is British sterling with a patent number on it. The two mezuzot pendants cost just under $20 the pair. The glass one has a mark I haven't really investigated yet and an amethyst underneath. The cameo isn't that great, but it's real although the metal is Lord-knows what. The bracelet is hollow sterling. The blue bit is just glass, but pretty glass.

I was going to say Venice, fortunately OBB could add specifics. From here, at that angle, looks like it was cut in tiger cowrie.

That wouldn't surprise me. I knew it was Venice. The carving isn't that great, but for five bucks I wasn't complaining. You can't get cheap mall earrings for five bucks these days.

    Right??

Nothing to do with Yale (George) but there are some hilarious images of pipe smokers in Messy Nessy's article "Big Pimping at Yale’s Pipe Smoking Contest, 1959"
