I don’t see that signature on the painting you posted.

I see "Willam Hugh Williams." As a courtesy in the future, would you please post all the handwritten text in an in focus close-up photograph or photographs?

A Welsh scene, of course. Teeny country. Location shouldn't be so difficult to identify (if you haven't already.)

I think the surname may begin with an "M" not a "W"

If you compare the W in William, it is different than the first initial of surname.

I don’t know if I am the only one who sees it but the signature and the image under the signature and the painting appear to be from 2 different works.

It is odd. I thought maybe it was mounted to a backing with the signature, but had become separated. Maybe manny can enlighten us...

Correct observation. And the one with the signature may even be signed above the art.

@manny would you please post the correct signature, enlarged, from this piece?

You're not making this easy, Manny. Am I to understand that the painting is on the back of the calendar and the handwritten notation identifying artist is at the top of the calendar itself? But then where are all the handwritten notations about the frame found? A bit of a jigsaw puzzle. Why don't you retake your photographs and repost them so we have a clear understanding of all the pieces in their entirety and their relationship to each other. Please include the frame if you have it. That will help us help you.

Hi Debora I added more pictures is it by William Hugh Williams? The date on the top is 1887 or could be 1787 cause this artist dead 1829 or could be someone else wrot it 1887? does the style look the same to you?

Thank you for the additional photographs. No, it's not the work of the listed artist Hugh William Williams (1773-1829.) I see William Hugh but, on second look, also see the first letter of the surname is written differently than the "W" so could well be a "M."

The church is Norman so the setting is more likely south Wales. What do you think that device atop the thatch is? "Black _____" somethin'.

My assumption is the building is a pub and that's a trade sign but...
