    For attaching a latch onto wood .. like the latch thing that is showing in photo #2, it's laying above the coiled pipe looking thing. The width of the latch appears to be the same as the two things that has a screwdriver down the centre. Excuse me for not knowing the name of the "things'' ... Joy. ..

    Think we have a winner! Anyway the amateur machinist who gave it to me (same source as the Mossberg tool set posted recently) said it was a spot-welder he built from plans he saw in a hobby magazine. He’s 86 and moving from his once machine-tool-infested home to a smallish retirement dwelling. He’s a former gold specialist who spent many years exploring for gold in Australia.
