Would love some help identifying this vase I bought.

Hi, everyone,
I just bought this gorgeous vase, and am very curious about it.
It’s a black ceramic vase with a lid, with a delicate golden and colored overlay on it. It measures 8 inches tall with the lid on, and the vase is 2 1/2” across the mouth and 3 1/4” across the foot. No identifying marks anywhere, no scratches, looks absolutely new. It was my random find at one of the local thrift stores, and I really like this vase. (Reminds me the vase I saw at my parents home when growing up.)
I am attaching a couple of pictures of it. Hope anyone can help me identify it

• Ginger jar rather than vase. Probably Japanese as AJ posted. Examples of ginger jars....some like yours.

I'm beginning to like ebay less and less. Above link, although it says japanese ginger jars......does not take you there.

 

Ginger jar. If memory serves, those were popular Japanese imports in the 1980s.
