Hi i got this today and i cant make out who the artist is. Looks to be a "W" the just scribble after that. Bottom left is the artist proof and the bottom right is the signature. Not sure what type of printing process this is but it looks like it was pressed to make the image. not really sure though. if anyone knows who the artist maybe or has seen this image im all ears thanks! print1.jpg print2.jpg print3.jpg print4.jpg

I think the process should be called "There's a picture in this frame but I'm damned if you're going to see it" !!! .. Joy.

Haha I know that's the bad part! I do see a horse but other than that I can't make out the rest of the image unfortunately. Wish the signature wasn't so hard to read either

The "EA" means it's an artist's proof.

I wonder if @moreotherstuff has seen this. He's good at print processes.

yeah i knew what the EA was but curious on who the artist is. since this is a artist proof i thought artist proofs were higher quality than the normal prints but for some reason its hard to make out what the image is. I do see a horse looking animal but the rest of the image is tough to make out

    I can't decide whether it's a horse, a bird or a dinosaur. :hilarious:

Do they just call this process "pressed paper"?

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I think @anundverkaufen is frequently pretty good at these kinds of siggys!!!! And I fiddled with coloring, etc. and inverted the image: I think I'm pretty sure I see at least part of a horse, also looks like part of a small face above about halfway down the horse's back, and also looks to the right like either part of Earth or Man in the Moon larger and to the right "in the sky"........BWDIK:woot::joyful::confused::D

Artist proofs....printers proofs.....are normally more or less the exact same quality as the limited edition run.
They are usually printed first.....so an etching may have a higher resolution...as where a silkscreen would be identical...

Thanks komokwa! Are artist proofs a little more valuable than the limited edition ones?

    welcome..
that's a real....depends on who you talk to..!!
In my line, AP's & PP's command a slightly higher value, but that's more of a collectors notion of accepting to pay higher for , let's say and artists proof owned by the artist, rather than a 5 / 65....sold by the printer to the retailers.
The image is the same.....but the snob value is greater....;)

My printer kept number 3 of every print he ever made.....he liked the number !!
But knowing that....when the museum bought a large amount of his early works...they could be attributed to that printers collection.

I suspect @2manybooks also knows what this blind printing technique is called.
