Help please identifying artist signature

Can anyone tell us the artist’s name? We just can’t seem to read it correctly.

 

First name looks kind of like 'Bjorne'.....OR possibly Byron....or could even start with a P.....IF you could get a CLEAR CLOSE-UP of that label on the back, and post it, your answer MIGHT lie right there!! Does look TO ME like Bjorne Has....something.....on the front.....

I am thinking Bjarne, maybe Ness. One comes up in Google but it does not look like he lived in the U.S.. I would try googling the address.

 

I think you are probably correct! I thought I tried that spelling but apparently not. It does make some sense being Norwegian as we think the painting belonged to my husband’s grandmother. Her parents came from Norway.

 

Do you live in the U.S.? Where did you find the painting? Does the address look familiar?

 

Yes, that would seem to support it being the Norwegian artist. I would try to find a good signature example to compare.

 

Yes we live in the US. My husband inherited everything after both his parents are now gone. I can’t really read the address on the back. Maybe Willmington NC which doesn’t really make sense if it’s Bjarne Ness.

 

There was a Bjarne Ness that had an art gallery in Fort Ransom, North Dakota, it looks like they may have offered instruction. I also found a Williston, North Dakota. You might try that artist.

 

Now that makes sense! My husband’s grandmother was from North Dakota.

 

Yes, thank you! I’m confident this is the correct person - Bjarne Ness, ND. I see he was christened in the same church in Litchville ND where my husband’s grandmother and many other relatives are from and went to church. Thank you to everyone for your help. So nice to know a bit more about the artist.
