Reproduction Staffordshire Dog Ceramics?

Is there anything about these that could give away whether they're a reproduction copies or older originals. The ones that appear online are advertised with a huge range of prices from what looks too cheap to thousands. I do notice this has unglazed paws different from most others.

I agree. It is very detailed, and has many aspects for one to look at when seeing one of the dogs. They did a great job.

Sounds like they should be old except they are not painted on the back

 

I don't think painting on the back is important. Many originals were meant as mantle decorations - not to be seen from both sides - and they were affordable, which means that such cost saving short cuts as were available were to be taken.
