Featured Is this a Wedgwood ?

hi everyone.

Just wanted to check if this is a wedgwood design or a copy ?
Could not find a Wedgwood at the back
Only a BPC and some numbers?

 

It's really nice! I think it might be Brownhills jasperware. Cheese dome maybe. Wedgwood would carry their own name.

Yes, Wedgwood nearly always marked their wares.

Impressed mark looks BP CO for Brownhills as SIS has stated.

I'd agree on Brownhills. It's called a cheese dome becuase you put a honking great big cheese truckle under it and it sits on an elegant sideboard. Taller ones are called cheese bells. Refrigerating good cheese ruins it.

Try sprigged ware rather than jasperware, that's what it is. Dudson did things like this too.

 

This is probably of very limited help but I did find this auction from Australia for a Brownhills cheese dome in blue and a different pattern along with a Wedgwood teapot. They sold in 2016 for $200 AU dollars.

I don't think I've ever heard of Brownhills. That's nice.

 

I can't see the scene to the sides and back but, from what is showing, it looks like a hunting scene known as "The Kill".

I have it on some feldspathic stoneware by Chetham & Woolley c 1800, though Godden states that Brownhills were 1872-1896

Slight differences to trees but essentially the same as my piece. The hounds have the fox. So, yes, The Kill
