Got this birdcage some time ago but have never seen another even remotely similar. It is made completely of copper.(the swinging lady is my addition). It stands 5 feet tall and can hang or stand. Anyone ever come across something similar? Thanks! 20181002_105658.jpg 20181002_104946.jpg 20181002_104931.jpg 20181002_104858.jpg

I wish it was. It is a reproduction, but it does fit perfectly with no tether or adhesive so that's where she sits.

Are you sure it is not brass? Or is that just a trick of the lighting?

Haven't seen anything similar but, as it appears to be brass, I'd guess a 1960s India import. And there we go again... "Victorian Bathing Beauty" because, if there's one thing we think when we think about Victorian women, it's skimpy bathing suits and cropped hair.

Upyerkilt, that is too cool! I agree with Johnny, the lady looks great on the perch!

I've never had a pet bird OR a bird cage, but I do have a number of 1930's-1940's silver plated bird figures (some are S+P shakers,) and I've always thought I should get myself a birdcage & let them live in it! (Space constrictions in my current life have made that impractical, but I still think it would be neat!)

Love it. I had a few parakeets in my day as a kid.
One of them loved to bite.
    Ouch!

    Owned, that is so cool!

Way back when, on my honeymoon(!) in 1978, DH & I went to see one of his publishers, who lived in Chelmsford, England. The house seemed to be in the back of beyond, but it was gorgeous.

As he took us on a little tour of his grounds, we came upon a good-sized structure that I would have called a "gazebo", but he called it a budgerie (or something like that.)

When we got up closer to it, I saw that it was screened, and inside, there must have been 50 or 60 parakeets! OUTSIDE, in all weathers. I was both shocked and intrigued.

Yes, I understand that even "indoor" birds must live "outside" somewhere, but I didn't realize that parakeets were hardy enough to live outside in the UK!

    Another bird story.

After my grandfather passed away, I got my grandmother a canary for her apt.
So cute. That bird sure could sing a tune.
