Pewter Safety

I’ve found a cool pewter goblet, but I don’t know how old it is, or what the metals in it are (& neither does the seller). All I know is that it was made by Metalars, in Italy. I don’t want to buy it if it’s not safe to drink out of. How can I find out?

 

Here's some info and links on METALARS PELTRO, but no mention that I saw as to the safety of drinking from it....your piece looks a little "iffy" on the outside... at least to me.....

I wouldn't even drink from the "safe" stuff. My sister and I put milk in some as kids. Made the milk taste nasty. Never did it again.

 

although metalars is a typical post-war brand and most of their items are even marked with an additional 95 % IAW the rules since the late 80s you never know if these cheaply made copies of antique items as this follow the rules of the EPU (European Pewter Union) and are completely lead-free.
