Now the big question, has value gone up as a consequence?

Daily Mail article says auctioneers think it will because of interest generated. It was a strip shredder, so strips could be reassembled on a backing.

Talk about over hyped nonsense. Hes this era's Andy Warhol . The Art world overall has gone beyond absurd.

I think the art world has always been absurd.

I don't think this stunt is particularly poignant or meaningful, but I do think it is hilarious.

And bloody brilliant marketing. The man's not an idiot, if his point had been to destroy the art, it would have been a crosscut shredder. :p

Brilliant fun, but dont know whether an increase in value was the plan. He is meant to be anti capitalist.

    What will he do next?

    Introduced woodworm.to the frames?

Give the buyer an unpleasant shock when they emerge after 3 years!!

If I owned a building and saw that it had been vandalized by Banksy, I'd paint over it. I dont care how good people think he is, he is a Vandal period.

Thats just my .02 and your mileage may vary.

I cannot believe it was anything but a publicity stunt with the connivance of the auctioneer, bidder and vendor..

I don't know a lot about Banksy but my hunch is that anyone who does much of their artwork as graffiti has an irreverent approach to life in general and art in particular.

It might even go against the grain for him that any work of art would bring these insane prices... hence destroying it once the price was settled to make a statement.

For it to be worth twice as much after being shredded... shaking my head here...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
