    Looks kind of like the first word or part of the word might be 'FIRE', but sooo not sure......the image just isn't clear enough to pull it out......

    Hello everyone
    Thanks for the interest, the plate is in Australia.
    I have tried to get a better photo but I still can’t make out the writing.

    I have looked at it the other way up but this way seems to make more sense.

    When I look at it I see letters, I swear the last ones are ERERS. However there is another pattern I see and it makes me wonder if they are letters at all. (Could it be like cloud pictures where I see shapes that aren't really there?)

    Could they be impressions from sort of tool? I can only visualize a saw blade (which doesn't make sense to me) but I do see regularly spaced shapes going back and forth more or less. Sort of like this.

    Yes I can see what you mean about the pattern, and thanks it did take a few goes to get a photo I was happy with.
